Goods Receipt Note - Internal notification that goods have been receipted and accepted onto the Warehouse Management System (WMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. In manual systems the GRN is a piece of paper. In an ERP system, a GRN, an electronic document or transaction will normally be compared with the original purchase order at goods receipt and with both the purchase order and invoice at invoice receipt (a three-way match). Unique - locally administered products uniquely found in one product group say. Specific - used exclusively in a single high-level product, causing key procurement issues.
